For all 3 of you people that might glance at my blog every now and again, I haven't been updating much, theres a good reason why, but nothing to show for it, basically I'm creating my very own website, that, no doubt, I'll post a link to here, but in this website I was told that 'Blogger' was soooooo last year and to get with the times and get 'Wordpress', so I did just that, so any new updates will be posted on www.rosspenny.wordpress.com and therefore I have no reason to update here, never the less, if I feel the need to tell the world something, but don't want it published on my website, I'll probably post it here, so check them both out!
Like I said, I'll post the link for my website up once it's up, I've nearly finished it, just a couple more pages and info to work out and funds to work out too, I'm aiming to have it up around the start of April, so.......WATCH THIS SPACE.

It's been a while

I haven't posted one on here for a while....

I haven't really got much, I'm working on a proper website, so all my new stuff, I'm putting on that, so when it gets launched, it'll actually give something for people to read.
So I'm not really putting much on here anymore, but never the less, stay updated here, as I may put the occasional thing on here before the website gets launched.....if you're lucky.

So at this time, I'll leave you with this picture of Tommy Bruza I took last night, as he lost all his hair in his sleep, courtesy of Ratboy and his brother + a shaver, and, as much as I love Tom to bits, its pretty funny hahahaaa.

Oh and I almost forgot, I got my Emulusre T-shirt today....waiting for me on the doorstep when returning from work, it's decent and I advise you all to go get one from Craig at Emulsure for the very reasonable price of £15 with free p&p.

Basingstoke Hits Southampton

Original I wasn’t going to go to Southampton, but as usual, my options left me with either not going and having a romantic man date with Chunky....or, going with my friends to Southampton and taking some pictures at Chandlers Ford bowl, then heading to Carlos’ house, having some drinks and heading into town with the Southey boys and showing the Southampton boys how Basingstoke boys drink, this was an obvious choice of course.
The night started off in a shit way I must admit, I get a call from Cleaver-Rice telling me to meet them at Tesco Express as we were all ready to leave, then just to text me 2 minutes later saying they had left because Sparrow left regardless of the fact Bevell and Rice were waiting for me......what a douche. So once I set off BY MYSELF, and got to Southampton, which consisted of a fair few phone calls to Rice asking him where the hell I was actually going, I got to Pijin, where I got to see Carlos and Miller ride the Pijin’s very own underground ‘Bat Cave’, which was a treat.
We then set off to Chandler’s Ford to check out how wet it was, once Dave got his daily supply of KFC of course.
We all got to Chandler’s Ford, after Sparrow got lost with Rob, and all their bikes and Dave’s bike in his car.... (now that’s karma). It was so cold at Chandler’s Ford too, after just about 30 mins of setting up my flashes; they already developed a decent amount of surface frost on them.

This is the second time I had been to this bowl, but compared to that time, this time the bowl was a treat, everything from Rice drunken riding around it and Sparrow being his sketchy self, to seeing the Southey boys show off their skills, which was near enough a first for me to see, it was a good session.
This was also the first time I had actually taken pictures at a bowl; unless you can call Bournemouth a bowl, which to all fairness, I do not, and it was a task within itself, not know where to set up flashes, or where to stand without getting hit. But never the less, I gave it a whirl, and the outcome wasn't too bad for the first time.

The night went on after Chandler’s Ford, and very drunkenly. Driving to ASDA with Miller shouting abuse out the car window on my megaphone, then driving across Southampton to Carlos' house doing the same and making a cyclist very scared! Once we got to Carlos’ house, we had a few drinks, while Carlos put on a DVD and I edited some photos, a good bottle of vodka, a few litres of cider and a fair few beers got drunk, needless to say, everyone was a bit tipsy by the time we headed out to town at about 12, which Carlos said was a 15-20min walk, and it took us around an hour....the best part probably was Rice being so drunk and a complete state.
Not much else went on really other than a laugh in a club/pub with some good music and me and Rob getting separated from everyone on a way back and having to shell out for a taxi as we got lost in the middle of Southampton.

The morning wasn't great, as this consisted of me having 4 hours sleep on a floor, a 45min drive from Southey to Basingstoke straight to work, feeling sick with a massive headache and having the work day mainly being me falling asleep and my manager laughing at me. 8 hours passed eventually, I went home at 6 and fell asleep for 16 hours, ready to start the workday again the next day.

But enough of me rambling on about stuff you probably don’t even care about; let’s talk about the pictures I am posting here.

First picture: Paul Miller – 180 Bars not much to say apart from he asked me to get this picture, then boom, first time shot, first time pulled, done.

Second picture: Paul Miller – Bars Fakie interesting story about this picture, well maybe not so interesting, he did this trick about 6 times, each time pulling the bars, but only twice pulling the fakie, first time I got the bars perfect, but he didn’t pull it, second time he pulled it, but I was left with the picture below, which I didn’t really get as well......and miller said he doesn’t like his ass sticking out haha. We had a couple more shots, but they just didn’t really do it for either of us. Finally, I got a nice angle, a good timing and he pulled it, but, much to mine and Miller’s disappointment, Rice and Bevell put their hands in front of my flashes, causing the picture not to come out......well done guys. So after all that, we decided to go for the picture where he pulled it, even though I didn’t get the timing well and he doesn’t like the fact his ass is sticking out, I still think it’s a sick trick anyway.

Third picture: Carlos Gomez – Table Air I saw Carlos do this trick when I was setting up and I thought I had to shoot it, I didn’t know what kind of angle etc. to get so I asked him to do the trick a couple of times, which was no problem with him, this ended up with the picture below.

Forth picture: Jack ‘Sparrow’ Ford – Invert one thing about this photo that everyone will say as soon as he puts it up......NOT PULLED, hahahaha, although I have seen him pull one before.

So after that nice long essay about a night in Southampton and my not so fun day after at work, I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed the night.

James 'I like shit films' Bruza

When Rob told me James, Tom and himself were going on a street mission I jumped at the chance, as I haven't got any street pictures in so long.
Unfortunately, the only picture I got of Rob turned out to be ridiculously out of focus, I could've sworn it looked much better on the camera, but that's what happens when you can't take a picture.....

Back to the subject of the post, we went to look for street in the day, we settled down to shoot some pictures when it was dark, at John Hunt school in Popley.....so not even anywhere new, as all the places we went to look for street turned out to be quite a disappointment, James got a couple of pictures none the less, as usual he didn't like them because he was 'too tired' blah blah blah, but he assured me we would re-shoot them when he's back on it.

Also, for once in a long time, the security guard came over, sat for a bit watching Tom, while I was packing up, asked me what I was doing, so I told him and he actually said 'I hope you're not packing up on my account', which I was fairly surprised about, considering he didn't say 'Can you please leave' like usual.

This boy is an absolute treat to watch!

The picture I took below is of Tom Bruza 180ing off a ledge, this street mission was awesome, so much tech stuff went down, without a strobe to get some it was hard to take pictures, unfortunately I don't have a strobe, or a flash that can fire fast enough for sequences such as Tommy's back pedal to manual to hang nothing to manual to back pedal to 180, which was mad, he didn't pull it in the end, but he was bloody close, and it was very entertaining to watch him try it.

Simpel Session Videos

As I promised, I uploaded our hostel videos onto youtube which can be seen on my youtube profile here, some of them are a laugh, some of them you kinda need to be there for, in fact most of them you kinda had to be there for, on second thoughts, unless you wanna waste your time, probably best not to watch them.

But on a different note, Mike King over at ffwdbmx made a couple of edits which I've put below, he also said he liked my photo's and plans to use some in a photo feature, which means a lot, not only because it's my photo's but also because he never compliments anyone, so to receive a kind word like that from him makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside, anyway, here are the videos, and you should definitely watch them as I personally think they are the best edits of Simpel Session so far, and keep posted on ffwdbmx, as it's constantly being updated with quality video's and pictures.

Simpel Session 10

Just got back from Simpel Session 10 in Estonia, and dispite the fact I couldn't get a press pass and only took like 3 riding pictures, I had the time of my life.
From a party every night to basically only not drinking when you are sleeping, the last 5 days with some of the best guys ever couldn't have been much better.
I'm now going to explain why it was so fun, so if you can't be bothered to read or just plain don't care, scroll down to the 9 pictures I chose out of the 150 I took to sum up the Estonia experience.

Ok, so we wake up at 4am Wednesday morning, for a horrible tired, cold drive to Stansted airport, where as soon as we get to the airport parking we are already laughing our heads off to Staffy stacking it on the ice and ending up on his back like a helpless tortoise....when we get to the airport, the Southampton boys are there to meet us, so we go chill in Burger King for a bit until we can check in and get on our flight.
By the time we get on the plane everyone is pretty stoked, despite the early morning wake up and not really sitting anywhere near each other.
When we land, it's basically as could as england, just with about 2 foot more snow, so first things first, get our bags, which already turned into a calamity when people are putting the bags you just took off back onto the carousel, so once we finally get out the airport, there is 10 of us with suitcases and backpacks looking for some kind of transport to our hostel, which much to our surprise was immediately offered to us by some mini van driver with 8 seats.....but he insisted it was fine to cram us all in. So on a unsafe and experienced drive to our hostel we finally get there and check in, start unpacking, then take a hour journey to the super market to get booze, which we soon found out it was only about 10 mins away, but Sparrow took us the most convoluted way ever.
So we get food, essential and alcohol and start drinking, 1st game of 4 kings gets underway, teaching the Southampton boys how to play a drinking game they will never forget, but never will want to remember. After a couple of games we decide to go out on the streets and head to a couple of pubs, even though we were the only UK lot in Estonia at this point. We head to Hell's Hunt, where we find a very moody bitch behind the bar. Few more pints down us and we end up trying to get into a strip club opposite our hostel, which was quite obviously shut, and from there on, I don't remember much more of the night.

Second day, well other than the battle for the good shower so we are not left with the 'leaky nipple' shower as Bevell quite promptly named it, there isn't much to talk about, so instead of describing every second of each day, I'll skip to the evenings, unless there was an eventful part during the day.
That evening we managed to find a really cheap place that did a Steak and chips with a pint and a shot for a very reasonable price, so we headed there for dinner, we then again went back to the hostel and started our night with 4 kings, pretty much like every night, but this time with some cheap ass 80% Vodka, which was far from suitable to drink straight......so we drunk it straight. We then headed to the bar with no name to meet Tommy Bruza, Parky, Miller and the essex lot, where we again drunk a fair few pints, and Bevell took part in some competition that I really didn't understand due to the amount of alcohol I had consumed. There was some gaps in that night I have to admit, but somehow I got the message we were leaving at one point when we weren't, so I got lost in the freezing weather on the streets of Estonia, which was far from perfect, but soon enough I found the hostel and just had to wait for everyone to come back so I could get in, which was actually not that long, well it didn't seem that long anyway. The night didn't end there either, there was a few strays from the bar that got picked up on the way home, so they came to our room, we got some tunes on and carried on drinking, at that point Rice realised we were breaking every rule that the hostel had up on the wall, which is always a brilliant goal to hit. Other than talking, chilling and drinking, not much more went on that night, other than Gould getting the nickname 'Heartbreaker'. I'm not gonna go on about the stupid amount of girls Carlos got so that should save a couple thousand words.

Day 3, Friday, Started off quite the same, except this time, I was hanging, the 80% Vodka did not agree with me at all. Today we headed to the Saku Stadium where the event was being held, we got our tickets, watched a bit of practice, then decided to go back and drink. This is where Drift King or 'DK' as he soon got the name, when he picked us up in a rear wheel drive minibus, he soon became our taxi driver for the whole trip, and he got a fair few kroons tip, especially when he went basically sideways into a massive mound of snow and ripped his mud flap off, and when he mounted the curb so we were close to the front door, he was a true legend.
Anyway, this led to the Friday night party, which in my opinion was the best, despite re-rolling my ankle again and not being able to walk back and having to get a taxi and nearly getting stitched up by the stupid taxi guy.
This night again consisted of 4 kings before we went out, then a bit of singing Fresh Prince on the way with some random Latvian beat boxer guy joining in.
The club was packed, and the ratio of men to fit girls is ridiculously good, almost every girl you see is gorgeous, even the girls you think must only be about 15, it makes you feel like a right pedo.
After a night full of crazy dancing, mental moshing, getting up on stage, getting covered in red bull and fucking my ankle again, we got back to the hostel and in bed by 4am, which was fairly early for us, well I say us, Chunky was usually in bed by 11pm.....only to wake everyone up at 10am, not cool.

Saturday, the 4th day, again, not much happened day wise, other than the qualifiers, which were pretty immense actually, so we start drinking again, which seemed to be the theme for this trip. Then obviously the trip to and from the stadium from DK.
That night was the Club Hollywood party, which was much closer, which was good, and despite everyone telling me last year it was the best party, it ended up only me, Rice and Sparrow going there, while everyone else stayed at the bar with no name.
But we soon met some more English people in the que, who were a treat, and phrases like 'This is Bury', 'Man, I hope this is San As Tits' and 'Balls out the bath on this one' soon came about. After about 2 hours in the freezing cold of queuing we finally got in, then found James Bruza, who was so fucked and started to piss over the balcony onto Ginge and then filled up a pint glass and threw that over everyone downstairs too, with surprised faces from Fred Murray, Ben Hennon, me and Chunky, James then stumbles to the bar to get another drink. Just walking around and talking to people like Dan Lacey and Morgan Wade was weird, it feels so gay, but it almost puts you star-struck hahaha, anyway that ain't anything compared to talking to Mike King from www.ffwdbmx.com and talking to the likes of Ross Penny....right?.....
This then led to about the time Chunky fell over, fucked his knee, and left without telling anyone to go back and go to bed, even though I left about 2 hours later and find out he only got in 5 mins before me, but that's a different story.
We then had a little dance, got dancing on the podium, had a couple more drinks, then at about 4 I decided to go back, but the party didn't stop there, oh no. When I got back to the hostel I found out half the lot who went to the bar with no name were still out and only half came back, so I sat and chilled with Bevell and Dave, who were with some of the Latvian girls from down the hall, who we soon came to the conclusion, they were alcoholics. Not that much later everyone else came back, so we got the beers out, and decided to stay up a bit longer, this soon ended up in Staffy trying to strip Gould and Miller coming in and face fucking Goulds ear, all of which I have videos of and I will put up on youtube soon. This is also the night 'NICE TROUSERS' became a catchphrase, but I don't think I can really explain that.....

Day 5, Sunday, the last day with a party. This was a day to remember, the finals, crazy shit going on, but I'm sure if you search Simpel Session 10 on google or some place you'll be able to watch that for yourself.
That night started off different, this was the only night without 4 kings, we just sat in the room finishing all the left over alcohol and adding it to the beer tower. This soon ended up in us throwing absolutely everything around, Staffy breaking Gould's bed attempting a high jump, Miller not being able to have babies, and some quite bad injuries. But again, you need videos of them, so check out youtube for that shit.
The last party was just as good as all the others, in fact all the parties were good, it makes Basingstoke look like such a shit scene it's unbelievable. This party consisted of cheap vodka, Bevell slashing open his hand, not seeing straight, Parky jumping of the balcony, just basically everyone realising it was the last party so getting totally shit-faced.
Once we got back to the hostel, surprise surprise, Chunky was in bed, and me, Gould and Rice stayed up for everyone else to come back from the bar with no name, as everyone went there again, not sure what went on other than the parties, as we did split up a bit while we were out and about.

This leads me to the final day, day 6, Monday....
Well other than waking up early, everyone being stupidly tired, getting out the hostel before the manager could look at our room, James Bruza losing his passport and not being able to fly and me losing money playing some stupid gambling game, theres really not much to say other than, it may have sucked to be going home, and we may have all been incredibly tired, but we could all agree we had a brilliant time, so many catchphrases and times to look back on and mistakes to learn from, such as don't let your friends turn your chocopic to chocodick or even though it's tempting to write 'Lychpit Masive' or 'Basingstoke Massive' on expensive cars like BMW's and Merc's, always check to see if the owner of the Bentley you are writing on isn't right behind you when you're doing it....

All in all, it was a fucking awesome time, and I would do anything to go right back now and do it all again, I can't wait for next year. And hopefully next year we will live on something that isn't cheese and crisp sandwiches.

After a stupid amount of snow, the time finally came back around that it's dry enough to go down the skatepark, and even though it being bitterly cold, I jumped at the chance to try out my new 18-250mm lens, I haven't taken pictures in so long and it felt like I was having withdrawal symptoms, it wasn't cool.

So as soon as I could, I left work, drove home, got a jacket and my camera and went straight down the park, just to see a chilled little session going down as it got dark and the ramps got dewey, but I didn't care, I just wanted to take a couple of photo's, so I talked to James and he told me he needed a couple of promo shots done for Simpel Session, where he is riding for Mongoose, so I said 'fo' shore' and set up a couple of flashes and whipped out the new lens, I was surprised that I could get all the camera and flash settings right first time as it had been so long, anyway, I shot some pictures, pretty happy with the new lens......then when I got home I blew the cobwebs off photoshop and whipped them up a bit and sent them to james.

It just feels so good to be back out and shooting again, I just hope the weather stays dry, even if it's cold, I don't care, as long as there is photo opportunities.

New 18-250mm

I've been wanting a lens like this for a while, just purely so I don't have to keep changing lenses if I'm on the go, or if I'm shooting a gig or comp.
So I thought I'd use my xmas money combined with pay cheque, to make me completely skint for a couple of months so I could get this lens before Estonia.....which is in just over a week :)

Anyway, I took these pictures when messing with my new 52mm, the picture above is my new 18-250mm, taken with the Helios 52mm and the picture below is taken with my new 18-250mm :)

Got a new lens just before xmas, I wanted a prime lens, then I saw this Helios 52mm pop up on ebay for an absolute bargain of £8 haha, so I had to get it, just for a play, so while it was snowy and I was stuck inside I took a couple shots, so I thought I'd share them with you.

Ok, now this one is done by Mikey King, Sam King and Craig Tull - whose website I mentioned earlier in my blog.

I do urge you to check out ffwdbmx, as, even though it pains me to say, as its a creation that involves Mike King, it is a very good website, with brilliant contributions from Craig (mentioned below), Sam, another very talented photographer - whose photostream can be view here and his very own website can be found here, and finally Mike King which obviously can be found on ffwdbmx - here and his video stream can be found here.

But enough of the linkage, time for me to give my view of the site........
Like I said before, it pains me to say anything good comes from Mike, even if he is a great filmographer guy and produces some great masterpieces. But this website is another brilliant contribution to the world of bmx, with a pretty constantly updated video and photo section from the websites creators, to a 'contribute' section where you can, obviously, contribute your own material for all to see and comment.
You can also follow ffwdbmx on twitter and facebook, where you can again have constant updates on the websites activity, they even do a iTunes podcast, if you want to subscribe so you can watch video's anytime on your iPoodle, even if the podcasts are hardly ever updated.......

I dunno what really else to say other than go to it, it's a brilliant website, it's an instant cure to boredom, and it is created by 3 very talented people at what they do.

So go to it, and enjoy.

Emulsure

Still snowing outside.......still shitty weather.......still so desperate to take photo's, but I thought I should update this with something.

So what better time than this to say about my friend and very talented fellow photographer Craig Tull and his new website, which can be found here, it is called Emulsure.
It is daily updated with a different video on the homepage, which I find sweeeeeeet, because, as a non-bmxer and just a photographer, I love watching video's and looking at media of riding, but I never know the good video's to watch, and this website is awesome and really is entertaining!

He is also an amazing photographer, and his photostream can be found here, and, if that all isn't enough, he even makes his own video's! which can be found here.

Anyway, enough of me brown nosing him, just go check out his stuff, as it is very impressive.

Snow

In large amounts, I don't like snow, it's cold, it's wet, Basingstoke roads cannot cope with it so its very difficult to actually go anyway, my work never closes and I still can't take any pictures, which sucks.

But this aside, we make the most of it right?

So here's some videos in the snow, the first is my friend Cleaver-Rice stacking it.......hard, down the big hill next to my house that we nick named 'The Cliff'.

And the second video is of my friends James 'Bruza' Ivett getting towed at 25mph on a snow bike which he made out of his old bmx parts and a couple of blank skate decks.

Anyway, they're both a treat so watch and enjoy :)

....Oh! and I hope all your Christmases and New Year's festivities were off the chain!

Simon's Mini

This is basically the reason why I was taking pictures tonight, it may have been freezing, it may have been dark and my car may have blown up from overheating when running so the lights could stay on, but I told Simon I would get some shots and what better time to get them than in the snow, which comes in Basingstoke very rarely and it seemed a shame to waste the chance.

This is actually only the second time I've used flashes on pictures of cars, the first time was when I first got my Jetta, the results were ok, but I'm more happy with these ones, the use of Bevell's lights and car headlights helped a fair bit.

Simon's Mini a very nice machine, and it's also more capable of supplying enough power to run the light than my car so I could take some pictures of Bevell's Rado.

It was just by chance that Bevell decided to bring his Rado out with his light to get some pictures, which are shown below.

Recently, my good friend Jonny Bevell got a new VR6 Corrado, he may have spent his his savings on it, it also might be still on stilts, but my god is it fast, very comfy, has basically automated everything and he is spending a fair few quid on it. That's right, he's not doing what everyone else is doing/does (spending as little as possible on making the car what they want), no.....he is buying all the top of the range stuff and making it a 'B Machine', as usual, the stinking well off turd.

Anyway, here is some pictures, shame it's basically a shopping trolley.

Jack 'Sparrow' Ford

This is my good friend Sparrow, who I take pictures of fairly often to be honest, as when you hang out with someone whenever they're out, it kinda happens like that.

In fact, earlier on in this blog I took some pictures of him jumping his car, which can be found here.

But enough about that, more about these pictures, I took these on a 'moist' night at the park, as, in the current weather conditions, this seems to be the best we get, 'damp with puddles' not cool, but, we make the most of it to say the least.

It was a complete coincidence I saw Sparrow at the park this night as I text some people, but all of them were on duty, and Sparrow was the only one who didn't reply, so I decided to take a trip to the park anyway to see who as down there and if there was any photo opportunities, as I was going a bit cold turkey with the old camera.

I got down there, Sparrow was there, and he hadn't looked at his phone in a while and was also surprised to run into me, so I took a few shots of him, which made a change, as I think these are the only BMX shots I've shot in about 2 months, which is too long, and I hope for that to change when I get my new lenses, which are coming soon :).

But enough about my camera habits, here is my favourite picture of Sparrow I took that night, happy viewing and stay tuned for new posts when the weather clears up.

Hanging Post

There's a hanging post on the outskirts of Basingstoke, to be honest, it's effort to get to.

But when your sitting in leisure park car park on a friday or saturday night with no money and nothing to do, and it is foggy and dark, apparently a hanging post and creepy churches seem a good idea.

After stupid amounts of driving around in basically a big circle down bumpy country roads in a very low van and Sparrow's mk3 Golf estate, we finally climbed a very steep hill to find ourselves at the bottom of a dirt track that led to the hanging post.

We got out the cars/van with torches and my camera, and walked up the dirty, puddly, wet track and finally got to the top where the hanging post was, I think the worst thing was it was graffitied with penis' and 'tags', but never the less, to stand next to it and think people were genuinely hung there was kinda weird to say the least. I think it would've been a perfect photo opportunity if it was a clear night, as it over-looked the whole of Basingstoke which was pretty awesome, but unfortunately it was misty/foggy so you couldn't see much.

Either way I took a picture of the hanging post, so here it is, and underneath is a picture of Sam driving his van after my lens got very condensed and misty, but I kinda liked it in a weird way, so enjoy!

Time Off

I had a few days off recently, so there really should've been time to update this thing, but I didn't.

In fact, I haven't even thought about it until now, but truth being, there's nothing to post really, due to crappy rainy weather.

weather sucks, money sucks, not great situation at the moment, but who could royally give a fuck?

earlier this week i took a mosey down to the stay fit premiere in southampton, kindly hosted by the good men at pijin at the very accommodating orange rooms, which with very comfy seats, a projector and £1.60 for a glass of coke seemed very comforting.

The bad thing about this was that it made me want to watch every bmx video i could lay my hands on, and its just making me upset that the weather is shit and all i wanna do is take some fucking pictures, but on the plus side, it also made me find this video which is of my very good friend James 'Bruza' Ivett, so props to him! and it can prove that basingstoke can be sunny! so bring it back so i can update this blog with something other than my useless ramblings!

Billy Talent

from getting dead legs and bruises from Cancer Bats (2nd support) and flooring the first person that came into contact with my flailing arm. Also Canterbury (1st support), who are from Basingstoke and whose album is up for free download here.

Once it got to Billy Talent I pushed my way down to the front by the second song, and got pushed up against the barrier and getting a massive bruise across my chest and getting ridiculously sweaty and probably losing about 5 gallons of body fluid.

Anyway, it was so fun, one of the best gigs I have ever been to and I can't wait for the next tour!

Just had one of the sickest weeks, tuesday night was go-karting with work, all paid for :) where we won! followed by seeing a friend very drunk and a creepy man coming on to one of my male bosses.

Then Wednesday, I spent the whole day at thorpe park for fright night with my good friend Johnny Gould, where it was stupidly quiet so we got to do EVERY ride at least twice and did all the fright night mazes which were awesome and amazingly scary, and I got to see Gould shoulder barge an old lady into a face plant.

Following this I went to see Fantastic Mr. Fox with a couple of friends on friday, and weirdly that turned out to be a pretty good night too :) and today my lovely sister cooked me a beautiful meal and I had a nice relaxing day with her and her amazing dog called Maisy.

Then this week I'm seeing Billy Talent on thursday :D followed by pay day on friday where I'm booking my Estonia tickets for Simpel Session! Can't wait for that either, and to top the weekend off we're all going out for halloween into town for my good friend Richard Eastwood's birthday where I can actually have a good time out after being paid, and another Sunday off to enjoy a recovery day, so all in all, a pretty eventful week, hopefully followed by another.

.............absolutely sucks, all I wanna do is take some bloody photo's and all that happens recently is rain, rain, rain AND MORE RAIN, it aint cool.

Hopefully it dries up for No Rice on wednesday, which coincidentally is also the day I am getting my tattoo finished, so I'll take a picture of that too :)

On the plus side for Gould's birthday on Saturday we went to the big LDN which was a laugh, good fun it was, then to come back to go out on B-Stokey town, drink wayyyyy too much and sorting out a dance off in Liquid, then waking up after 6 hours of sleep with no hangover....times like these make me happy, even with the shocking weather.

Either way, I hate not being able to do something when you want to, so I'll leave you with this picture of a nice day so whoever looks at this and thinks the same as me, it'll give them some hope that tomorrow will be a better day.

So stoked today, got home from work and this months PVW was waiting for me, I knew the E38 article was in it, and after I sent my pictures off to them, I wondered if they liked them, after reading the article and recognizing some pictures I was wondering if they used them, then flicking back I looked at where they say where the pictures were from, to see my name!!! I was so happy, after looking through the article a couple of times, I think they used about 10-15 of my photos, I can't really be bothered to compare, as I'd imagine it would be fairly painstaking to do that. The article is 9 pages long, so there is a fair few pictures!
I'm just super happy that they looked at my photos, let alone using them.
Here's some pictures of the magazine, which is also a really good issue so if you are into your VW's then I would say you should buy it :)

Ok, before I sort out the despicable excuse for photos that I took and post them here, probably about a month away...., I shall basically sum up the weekend.

Rolling down at about 1ish after I wake up nice and early at the hours of midday the crowd was buzzing, there was a ridiculous amount of people there, making it very hard to park, and very hard to not see someone you knew or hadn't seen in a long time.
Not much happened on the Saturday daytime to be perfectly honest, it started off to plan, with the scheduled comp etc. but soon got shut down by the police, due to the bad influences coming down. Luckily, Bruza managed to have a chat and swing things our way. But much to the disappointment of many, after a small scuffle/misunderstanding between the locals, it didnt stop the conflict or the police wanting to stay and keep an eye on things, so it slowly turned into drinking/having a laugh. Which was exactly what happened, EVERYONE had a laugh. From trying to persuade drunken friends that paint was orange juice and that they should get their 5-a-day, to taking the absolute piss out of drunken girls passed out on peoples laps and it looking like vulgar acts being performed.... Also, may I add, never let Jake Daw hold a taser when he is sitting next to you, I have Mike King to thank for that shocking result in my leg......
Times calmed down as the night went on, a few more drunken laughs, it was all fun, then leaving at about half 2 when everyone decided to turn to their tents and call it a night to be up nice and early for Sunday.

Which brings us to Sunday, a much more mellow day, obviously the asbo youths did not realise this was a 2 day event, so the rest of the comp got finished, which was a nice feeling, thats for sure. Thanks to my good friend Jonny Bevell, the music and microphone kept going, even though the council didnt want a petrol car running to power it, Bevell volunteered his good old 'free diesel KONE van' and went out and bought a power adapter to run it all off his van battery, what a nice young man.
Due to the comp actually managing to take place, this was photo time for me, but like I said, the pictures weren't great, I just can't wait to see Fred Murray's and Dunc's (over at therollingimage.com) article in rideukbmx magazine.
Either way, Sunday was crazy, seeing some crazy shit from everyone, a few names to stick out would be Aaron Nicholson, Ben Wallace, Mike Miller, Isaac Lesser, Dean Cueson and last but not least, Basingstoke wonder and Budget Jam's champion, Luke Towey, with his crazy tech shit, just amazed everyone, well done mate.
Unfortunately the council did get onto the Bruza's about the rubbish, and saying it cost over £700 to clean up, and was making them pay it, but luckily (kinda) they agreed to half it and is now making them pay £373, still ridiculous, but thanks to many people chipping in they are slowly getting donations and hopefully will have enough within a jiffy.
That beside, the weekend was really good, and hopefully next year we can have a few more paying sponsors and the council behind us, meaning Basingstoke will be put on the map and it's gonna go off!! They'll have to change the name as it will no longer be budget, just remember your roots and holla!! Ya get me?

Weekend just gone I took a trip to E38 with some friends, convoying up with a 1.9 tdi pd van, a vr6 van, lewis' mk4 polo and my mk2 jetta, racing up the m1 as fast as we all could, would've been a policeman's dream and luckily we didn't get stopped.
When we got there, it was car after car of niceness, if you saw a standard car you would be surprised, and after the first day I realized some people have too much time/money.
I have to admit, saturday was the best, anything from the ridiculously sick rides with details down to a VW emblem on the gold dipstick and 20" shiny chrome bentley wheels. Followed by a night of WAYYYY too much booze and martyn cooper shouting abuse down the megaphone at randoms and making any car that passed, to get the driver to get out and do a rolly polly, honestly hours of entertainment.
That night was monumental too, after creating 3 dance circles with some people dressed as goldie lookin chain and receiving £2.58 and a pint from them, and nearly getting a porsche 911, before the matey realized he just gave me his keys and snatched them back hahaha. Then being come on to by a 40yr old woman with her husband standing next to her....then WINNING A DANCE OFF AGAINST CAPTAIN AMERICA, no lie, he stood down and I got cheered on, best moment of my life :) hahaah. then finding randoms that were obsessed with making me chug vodka (fyi DO NOT chug half a can of carlsberg mixed with vodka because is sooooo disgusting) then meeting phonejacker and superman, and doing some stuff that at the time felt good, but when it got to morning, it felt shitty...which brings me on to sunday morning when I woke up to a greasy penis on my car and a VW emblem on my roof made out of sausages, still drunk, hanging out my door being sick, rice had to drive my car to the front where everyone wanted to park, then they went round looking at everything they had missed while I stayed at my car hanging soooo bad, slowly recovering and trying to rest, before everyone left at about 1ish and rice nicely deciding to stay with me until I felt just enough sober/not shitty enough to take the 100 mile drive home.
All in all even with the sunday morning calamity it was a mega weekend, and on top of that PVW actually said they'd have a look at my photos, so I'm not gonna post any up here just yet, wait until the issue is out, just one of our convoy, one of a couple of goldie lookin chain with me, rice and delly and my state on sunday - see below.

Robins Cinema - Take 2

Wanted to get some more pictures of this place, using flashes as opposed to just hand held lights, but after getting there and people complaining they didn't like it, I realised I had most the pictures I could possibly get, so it ended up in me teaching Cleaver-Rice about long shutter speeds and drawing with light. Then ending up in a couple more pictures using flashes, as I couldn't go away from there with nothing.

The long awaited pictures of Sparrow's car that I took a while back finally made it onto my computer, and disappointingly, as always the never look as good on the big screen, so here is, what I feel is the best picture, no doubt Sparrow will see this and ask for the rest of the pictures, which will consist of more work for me to do, but if he has any sense he will be happy with this one and stop hassling me before I burn his house to the ground. Back to the car, I've had a lot of help with it recently, from a good friend Sparrow and his brother Sam. And the enthusiasm people show for it is rather assuring, planning to band the wheels, widen the arches, get a new bumper and respray the parts that need respraying. But everyone can have aspirations, wether you follow through with them or not is completely different. Went to my first no-rice in it too, and a few people had a look, which is better than pulling up there in my old 106 and people being sick. Here's a new picture........

Not much to put here. I was going to go, having time off work is a rarity for me, and therefore if there is something to do, I will do it, and actually having transport, it was a given. After getting there in the ghetto of tadley, setting up some camera equipment at a very small skatepark where many of the AWE infected tadley boys used to ride loads making themselves what they are today, then getting asked by someone with nike airs and a burberry cap how much my camera equipment was worth, I decided to keep my photo taking to a minimum, and it shows, therefore coming out with basically nothing, except this picture of Tadley's/Basingstoke's wonder Luke Towey, who by the way has a wonderful new video filmed by wizz kid samwise, which is shown below the picture.

Not only did it just past my 19th birthday, and that isn't a great thing, lets face it, 18 is where your birthdays stop being good.....but luckily, I had a couple things to make it worth while, I ordered a whole new flash setup, which was pretty expensive, but hopefully worth while. And the best part is I have a new car now, luckily, my friend Cleaver-Rice had a slight misfortune and bought a 1989 Mk2 VW Jetta so he could do an engine and front end conversion for his 1988 Mk2 VW Golf, but after taking the engine out the Golf he decided not to and let me have the Jetta for a cheap £200, even though it had no mot or tax, I took the offer, he helped to work on it, we got it through an mot, lowered it, debadged grill, I put in my sound system, gave the wheels a spray, insured and taxed it, now just needs a paint and possibly new wheels when i get some money, probably a new bumper too as its hanging off a bit. Here's a picture i took last night.

Santa Pod - Classic Ford Show

Went to the classic ford show the other day at Santa Pod, very hot, very sunburnt, very de-hydrated, very good day.

I took my camera, as always, and got some lovely shots of my good friend Jack 'sparrow' Ford's car.

AND on the way to the classic ford show I learnt a VERY VALUABLE lesson, DO NOT stand in the door, with the door open with only a roof to hold onto on Sam's Van (picture below) while he accelerates around a car, when his car can easily do 140mph and the acceleration is monumental, honestly probably one of the most scary moments of my life.

just bought 2 brand new lenses, a sigma 10-20mm and a weird russian fisheye haha.
also my new camera bag came today :) which is awesome.
andddddd i talked to the tax people and i think i might actually get a tax rebate, which is going straight on a new car :).

after managing to receive confirmation i have received a press pass, and will be taking photos with the pros, it is making me happier every time i think about it.

and due to this i am purchasing 2 new lenses at the end of this week on pay day =]

and maybe a camera body with a faster fps if i can find a second hand one cheap enough haha.

so i was at work, thought i was working pretty hard, when my manager comes up with a smile on his face which quickly turns into a disappointing face, and hands me and my colleague a piece of paper reading 'why i should keep my job' and asked us to fill it out and get it back to him.

just as i thought i had a steady income, this happens, puts quite a downer on today, but fingers crossed ill be ok, otherwise im screwed.

My good friend robert has a blogspot, and reading it I realised it might be a fantastic new thing for me, as it is a beautiful new world for me to rant on about things I always try to tell my friends and they get horrifically bored and tell me to shut up, or in the sarcastic words of jonny bevell 'Have you got time to say that again?', so please read this all if you have the time and would like to listen to me go on about my life and such.
